About Babul Uloom

Babul Uloom was founded by its patron Qari Md. Ismail Zafar around 37 years back with a vision of founding a place of learning in Kolkata that accommodates both Islamic and modern education. This modest initiative with a purity of intention and vigor of determination emerged as the door to a proper and balanced way of education for Muslims of the city. This one man mission that produced hundreds of community leaders shining in different walks of life, has also given birth to the first Model Islamic School of West Bengal-Jibreel International School, the only English Weekly of Muslims from West Bengal- The Eastern Post, Voice of Democracy, a dedicated NGO serving the need of education of poor kids- A HAND, Babul Uloom Institute of Anglo Arabic and Islamic Studies and many other educational and welfare organizations.

Babul Uloom, literally meaning the Door to Education in Arabic, believes that education is the solution to all our problems and also strongly believes that justice and equality can help the world to attain peace that every human being of this world needs today. Since its inception it has believed to bridge gap between linguistically, religiously and regionally divided people. Its founder has been active member of several organizations which aims to fulfill this need on both national and international level.

The Eastern Post considers itself to be a part of this educational awareness and movement started by its patron and kindly supported by religious and educated class of the Muslim community. It too aims to spread the message of peace throughout the world and bring the truth to the forefront, so that the world which has been engulfed by tensions and conflicts because of the treachery and deception of few can realize the importance of understanding and dialogue and can move ahead with cooperation and love with each other.
